Detox with activated charcoal! Thought to help remove toxins and mold from the body, activated charcoal has been used for centuries to absorb poisons and detox the body. It has a bold black color that is fun to eat and great for spooky dishes. Give this yummy detox charcoal chia seed pudding a try!

A closer look at what’s inside:

Dairy-Free Milk

You can use any milk you want to make chia seed pudding. My favorite dairy-free milks are oat milk and cashew milk. I also have made this dish with a protein shake before and it turned out great — don’t be afraid to get creative!

Chia Seeds

These nutritious seeds add texture to the pudding, giving it a feeling similar to tapioca in my opinion. To make, add chia seeds to dairy-free milk and let them sit to absorb liquid and gel up. Chia seeds are high in protein, fiber, omega-3 fatty acids, magnesium, and calcium. They are also a complete protein — meaning they contain all nine essential amino acids that your body cannot produce on its own.

Activated Charcoal

Have you ever tried activated charcoal? It has become a trendy ingredient in recent years popping up in coffee drinks, breads, and more. While charcoal is thought to help detox the body, it must be used appropriately. Drink plenty of water while consuming activated charcoal to stay hydrated. Make sure you don’t consume charcoal within 3-4 hours of other vitamins, medications, and healthy meals as it may affect absorption of nutrients. Consume in moderation — activated charcoal is not meant for daily use.

Sweetener

Depending on the milk you used, you may want to add a touch of sweetener. I like using maple syrup or agave as I use unsweetened milk. If you are using a milk that is flavored or already sweetened, you may not need to add any additional sweetener. Feel free to taste and adjust as needed.
